Childhood Tumour Trust – Fun in Lockdown

We were all disappointed that camp could not go ahead and all our face to face activities like Build a Bear, and our special events at Alton Towers and Chessington. However, we adapted!

First of all, we held some Mary Poppins Virtual Tea Parties hosted by https://www.marypoppinstribute.co.uk/ Our children sang favourite songs and flew a kite with Mary Poppins from their own home.
We set up weekly British Sign Language lessons with http://www.bslgo.co.uk/ which have proved to be very successful.
We then went on to hold virtual cookery lessons with https://www.mrsbunthebaker.net/ where the children had fun, made a mess and produced the most wonderful food whilst interacting with their friends via zoom.
For our children with visual impairments, we commissioned a story from https://www.sophiesstories.co.uk/ that included all the children in and it was professionally read with each child having their own copy to listen to whenever they wished.

We also had our first Childhood Tumour Trust virtual sleepover party!
Some of our NF warriors came together on Zoom for a night full of giggles & fun!
They made pizzas, had facials, foot soaks, watched a movie together but most importantly they saw each other chatted & had lots of fun!
We aim to do more virtual sleepovers in the future!
All these workshops have been so successful at bringing our children together that it is something we will continue.
